19 Best Brunch Spots in Kansas City For Foodies, From A Local
Looking for the best brunch spots in Kansas City?
About a year ago, I made it my mission to find the best brunch spot in Kansas City.
Not only do Sundays + brunch = my love language, but with family and friends always popping into town, I had to find a spot that WOWS every single time.
Plus, I was getting a little tired of going to First Watch again and again (no offense, love you First Watch!).
So…I’ve tested out 40+ restaurants to figure out which ones will actually have you coming back for more and which ones left me thinking, “I could’ve just made this at home.” (which is not saying much haha)
Alright, before anyone gets too hangry, let’s get to it—here are my top picks!

Oh, how I love Rye!
The restaurant is owned by husband-and-wife/chef-owners Colby and Megan Garrelts. Colby is a James Beard Foundation Best Chef Midwest award winner, and Megan is a James Beard Semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef.
The space is warm and inviting with a farmhouse-style interior—it kind of feels like an upscale version of your grandma’s dining room (in the best way possible).
Even Taylor Swift has been spotted here!
Rye offers chef-driven comfort foods based on traditional Midwestern recipes—think biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, buttermilk pancakes, steak & eggs, and more!
And whatever you do, for the love of all things holy, order the cinnamon rolls. They’re some of the best in the city and sell out daily. Ooey, gooey, and so delicious!
2. The Westside Local
Address: 1663 Summit St, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: SUNDAY ONLY from 10 am – 2 pm

I’ve been coming to The Westside Local for dinner for years, but just tried brunch for the first time—and WOW…I’ve been missing out!
Nothing is boring about their menu, to say the least.
Like, sure, it might just say “classic egg sammy” (one of my personal faves), but don’t be fooled. It comes on this amazing semi-spicy jalapeño sourdough, with a mystery sauce that I honestly can’t explain…just trust me, it’s ridiculously good.
On a nice day, I recommend grabbing a spot in the shaded outdoor beer garden/patio—it’s filled with plants galore and is also a great spot to bring your dogs.
TIP: The Westside Local offers a rewards program—1 point per $1 spent and $3 off every 50 points. So, if it ends up on your regular rotation like it has for me, it’s an easy way to rack up points and save a little cash.

3. Seven Swans Crêperie
Address: 1746 Washington St, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Thursday to Monday 8 am – 3 pm
Menu
Seven Swans Crêperie is one of the most charming restaurants on this list!
Located just west of the Crossroads Arts District, this cozy little spot offers a variety of crêpes, all of which change seasonally.
Their menu is divided into “sweet” and “savory,” and I recommend trying one from each side— because, why not?!
My go-to is the KC Classic, one of their most popular crêpes, and it never disappoints!
Just a heads-up, this isn’t a quick grab-and-go spot.
There’s actually a sign inside the restaurant that says wait times on weekends are around 40–50 minutes. And they aren’t exaggerating—I can confirm this is the case.
On the bright side, there’s a box with books and poems to keep you entertained while you wait. And the crepes? Let’s just say patience has never tasted this good.
4. Wandering Vine at the Castle
Address: 12401 Johnson Dr, Shawnee
Brunch Hours: Sunday from 10 am – 1 pm

Wandering Vine is the perfect place to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, bridal showers, Mother’s Day, romantic dates with your partner, and other special occasions.
This spot is located inside a historic castle in Shawnee, Kansas, that has been around for more than 100 years.
It’s served as a home and a nightclub in the past and is now a restaurant owned by high school sweethearts, Dan and Carla Dyer.
There is truly nothing like it in Kansas City!
If you are looking for food recommendations, we ordered the waffle breakfast sandwich, stuffed French toast, and the seasonal frittata, and all of these were SO GOOD.

5. Room 39
Address: 1719 W 39th St, Kansas City
Breakfast Hours: 8 am – 3 pm (Mon-Sat) and 9 am – 3 pm (Sunday)
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
Room 39 has been a part of Kansas City’s food scene for over 20 years.
It’s also one of the few spots in KC that’s open for breakfast seven days a week, so it’s my go-to when I’m craving a weekday morning bite out or have a friend in town on a random Monday.
The menu offers farm-driven food and leans more toward the “fancy brunch” category, crafted by a chef who’s been nominated three times for the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Chef Award.
Think steak with your eggs benedict, salmon lox scramble, and goat cheese-packed frittatas.
Despite the awards and elevated food, the space itself is anything but stuffy. So, it gives you the best of both worlds — incredible food in a space that feels perfectly homey. Highly recommend!
6. HomeGrown
Address: Brookside: 338 W. 63rd St, Kansas City; Power & Light: 101 E 13th St, Kansas City; Leawood: 11705 Roe Ave, Suite A, Leawood; Liberty: 201 S Stewart Rd, Liberty; Merriam: 8807 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Merriam, KS 66202
Brunch Hours: Daily | 6:30 am – 2:30 pm
Menu
Click here to join the waitlist (highly recommended). The wait time can be upwards of an hour during peak brunch hours on Sunday. Plan on arriving before 10 am to beat the crowds.
HomeGrown Kansas City is a local favorite known for its from-scratch cooking.
Everything here tastes genuinely fresh, from favorites like homemade Pop-Tarts, avocado toast, and coffee cake to freshly squeezed orange juice mimosas that kickstart your day the right way.
HomeGrown never lets me down. My dad’s proof—every time he visits, the first thing he requests is, “Can we go to brunch at HomeGrown?”
We’re obsessed!
This local gem, with spots in Brookside, Leawood, Liberty, Merriam, and Power & Light, shows KC some love by using local ingredients like Scavusso’s meats, Farm to Market bread, Shatto Dairy, Tom’s Town (for Bloody Marys), and Messenger Coffee.
7. Brown & Loe
Address: 429 Walnut St, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm and Sunday from 10 am – 3 pm
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
Located in a former Merchant’s Bank from 1920, Brown & Loe is one of the best spots to soak in the history that Kansas City was built on.
The original verde marble floors and walls are still present, giving the place a little “step back in time” vibe — not quite the 1920s, but you get the idea.
It’s also one of my go-to spots when I’m craving something a little different—classic breakfast staples with a fun twist.
Like asparagus toast, potato pancakes, or a chorizo bierock.
ADD TO YOUR WEEKEND: The restaurant sits right in the heart of the River Market (one of my favorite neighborhoods), so you can easily tack on a stop at the farmer’s market that’s just a few steps away.
8. Farmhouse
Address: 300 Delaware St, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Wednesday – Sunday, from 9 am to 2 pm
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
Farmhouse is a Kansas City original—not a chain, and it’s exclusive to the city.
When I first moved to Kansas City nine years ago, everyone kept telling me, “You have to try The Farmhouse.”
Inside, it’s like Cracker Barrel’s cozy, homey vibe leveled up. Think exposed brick, mismatched wooden chairs, and Ball® mason jars for glasses.
The owners collaborate with local farmers from Kansas and Missouri to source ingredients for their menu. There’s even a black chalkboard inside listing the names of every farmer they work with. Such a nice touch!
If you are a fan of having a mimosa (or two) with your meal, you’ll be happy to find a Mimosa Tower on the menu, which is as close to “bottomless” as you can get.
9. Fox and Pearl
Address: 2143 Summit St, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Sunday 10 am to 2 pm
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
One of the most beautiful restaurant spaces in KC, Fox and Pearl is full of character and historic charm.
I’ve been going to Fox and Pearl for years, and it still holds a spot in my top five restaurants in Kansas City.
And it’s not just me singing their praises.
Fox and Pearl has earned major recognition — from Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America (#10) to chef and owner, Vaughn Good, being named a James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef: Midwest.
The food is incredible, the space is warm and inviting, with an elevated atmosphere all around. This is exactly the place I want to escape to after a long, busy week.
Portions are on the smaller side, and prices are mid-to-high, but it’s the kind of spot that feels special.
10. Denver Biscuit Company
Address: 7101 W. 80th St., Overland Park // 4144 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Mon – Fri until 2 pm and Sat & Sun until 3 pm
Menu
Click here to join the waitlist (highly recommended). The wait time can be upwards of an hour during peak brunch hours on Sunday. Plan on arriving before 10 am to beat the crowds.
Atomic Cowboy, home of Denver Biscuit Company, is easily one of my favorite brunch spots in KC!
This small, regional chain originally got its start in Denver, and Kansas City is the only other city lucky enough to have one…well, actually two!
Denver Biscuit Company is known for “biscuits-the-size-of basketballs” sandwiches. Seriously, the pictures do not give it justice — these are huge and filling!
So, come hungry and maybe save the diet for tomorrow.
It’s also one of the more affordable options on this list. You can get one of these large breakfast biscuit sandwiches for $15 or less!
While biscuit sandwiches are their bread and butter (pun fully intended), they also serve other biscuit-based dishes, like shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, and biscuit French toast—because why limit a good biscuit to just sandwiches?
11. Hemma Hemma
Address: 7122 Wornall Rd, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 8 am – 3 pm
Menu
Hemma Hemma is one of the newer names on this list, opening in 2023.
The restaurant is named after the Swedish word hemma, which means “at home”, and the interior reflects just that.
It’s warm, cozy, and chic all wrapped in one.
It offers a unique cafeteria-style concept in the Waldo neighborhood: you grab a tray, head down the buffet line, and choose from a variety of breakfast favorites — like burritos, biscuits and gravy, and avocado toast.
Donna Kelce, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, also has raved about their cinnamon rolls, which are big enough to fill an entire plate.
I haven’t tried them yet, so if you do, let me know if they live up to the hype!
12. Blanc Champagne Bar
Address: 3835 Main Street, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Wednesday – Sunday, from 9 am to 2 pm
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
Blanc Champagne Bar is a whole vibe! It’s chic, swanky, and oh-so-plush — like a restaurant straight out of a Barbie dream house (in the best way possible).
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and also aligns with the new streetcar line, giving you a mix of historic KC charm and a convenient location.
It’s the perfect place to celebrate special moments, big and small.
As the name suggests, Blanc Champagne Bar is all about the bubbles, with a wide selection of Champagne and sparkling wines.
They also have a zero-proof menu, which I took full advantage of when I visited for Galentine’s Day (highly recommend) while pregnant.
13. Mildred’s
Address: 1901 Wyandotte, Kansas City (Crossroads); 5060 Main St, Kansas City (South Plaza); 908 Baltimore Ave. Suite 103, Kansas City (9th Street District)
Brunch Hours: Available all day, every day
Menu
If you’re looking for the perfect breakfast spot to hold a business meeting or a quick bite before work, Mildred’s is it.
This family-owned cafe has been serving breakfast for over 25 years — starting as a small “Ma & Pa” café and growing into one of KC’s most popular go-to spots.
Mildred’s is known for their breakfast sandwiches (gluten-free bread available) and keeps things simple with a short, 10-item menu.
The sandwiches are about $10, making this another one of the more budget-friendly spots on the list.
There’s also quite an extensive specialty coffee and espresso bar, as well as boozy brunch drinks like mimosas, bloody marys, and Irish coffee.
I’m not a coffee drinker myself, but my friends who are big coffee snobs gave it two thumbs up!
14. Lula Southern Cookhouse
Address: 1617 Main St, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Tuesday-Sunday, from 10 am to 3 pm
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
Located right in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Lula Southern Cookhouse takes southern classics and adds its own twist.
Chef-owner Bradley Gilmore drew inspiration for Lula Southern Cookhouse from his Granny, Lula, and you’ll even spot her photo on the host stand.
The inspiration carries over to the food, with the tagline: “Our recipes are made from scratch & infused with love, just like Granny used to make.”
You’ll find menu items like shrimp and grits, jambalaya, gumbo, catfish, and southern fried chicken dipped in gravy. YUM!
And the portions are large — Granny clearly didn’t believe in leaving anyone hungry.
15. OurHouseKC
Address: 1815 W 39th St Ste 2, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Friday & Saturday 10 am – 3 pm
Sunday 10 am – Close BRUNCH ALL DAY!
Menu
Family-owned and operated, OurHouseKC gives off a home-away-from-home feel — relaxed, welcoming, and comfort-filled.
OurHouseKC offers a Cheesecake-Factory-length menu (and a hearty one at that), making it ideal for groups with wildly different cravings.
Head chef and co-owner Joe Zahner grew up in the world of championship barbecue, so if it’s smoked, it’s good. Burnt ends, brisket, pork, turkey — all solid choices.
I’m personally a big fan of the BRISKETS & Gravy and Breakfast Pot Pie!
It’s also one of the only spots on this list to offer bottomless mimosas ($20) (food purchase required).
TIP: Free parking is available in the parking garage directly behind OurHouse_KC. Be sure to scan the QR code by the front registers to validate up to 3 hours of parking.
16. Westport Cafe
Address: 419 Westport Rd, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Sunday only, from 10 am to 3:15 pm
Menu
Click here to make a reservation
Westport Cafe is a quaint Parisian-style bistro located in the heart of Westport.
It’s one of those hidden gems in Kansas City where you walk in and think, “Wait, this is here? How did I not know?” — especially with it being right in the busy Westport neighborhood.
The cafe offers a cozy space, with just around 10 tables plus seating at the bar, and is about the closest thing you can get to a taste of Paris in Kansas City.
Here, you’ll find classic American dishes with a French twist, like apple beignets (a must!), steak frites, mussels, a croque madame sandwich, and pommes frites.
17. Bingo + Brunch @ Boulevard
Address: 2501 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm (doors open at 10 am)
Space is limited – book your free ‘ticket’ here
I’ve been to Sunday brunch + bingo at Boulevard Brewing Company more times than I can count. It’s my favorite spot to take out-of-town visitors!
Boulevard Brewing Company holds a weekly Sunday Bingo free of charge.
You can win fun prizes, and the place is always packed with people who are there to win, which makes it even more fun!
The food is…ok. But let’s be real—you’re here for bingo, not a five-star dining experience.
That being said, there is a small menu to choose from, which includes biscuits and gravy (my fav!), breakfast tacos, and cinnamon rolls.
Doors open at 10:00 am, and bingo starts at 11:00 am. Everyone over the age of 3 needs a free “ticket” to reserve a spot.
Be sure to arrive at your booked reservation time and allow extra time to grab food and drinks (p.s., there’s a “Beermosa” that’s quite tasty).
18. The Phoenix
Address: 1815 W 39th St Ste 2, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Sunday only from 10 am – 2 pm
Menu
When it comes to jazz brunches in Kansas City, The Phoenix takes the cake.
Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., vocalists Dan and Millie, along with an organ player, fill the space with classic jazz tunes that spill out into the street.
It’s loud, dimly lit, and is a favorite among locals.
Service is decent, the food is average, with a short menu of seven dedicated breakfast items (biscuits and gravy are a fan favorite), but the live music is what keeps me coming back.
I’ve taken so many out-of-town guests here, and it’s always a hit.
If you like jazz music, you must try this place out!
19. Hamburger Mary’s
Address: 3700 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City
Brunch Hours: Shows run Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am and 1 pm
Click here to make a reservation
Hamburger Mary’s is the perfect spot to celebrate birthdays, bachelorette parties, or retirements. You’ll get a special shout-out and a celebratory shot for the occasion!
Hamburger Mary’s can be found in just about every big city, but if you haven’t been to one before, the show features drag performers who put on a mix of lip-syncs, dancing, and comedy while you enjoy your meal.
It’s a fun, high-energy show with lots of audience participation!
TIP: Make sure to bring plenty of $1 bills! These talented Queens come into the crowd after each performance to collect tips.
In terms of food, there is a buffet-style breakfast that includes pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, muffins, country potatoes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, and much more.
I was genuinely impressed by how many options they offer!
